Everyone thinks that the secret behind success is being hardworking and selfless.

From a young age, you are told that if you work hard, if you try one more time, you will be successful.

We are told to give the candy to the other kid, to be less selfish. Then, you will be able to get more in life.

However, is that really true?

I work towards success because I am lazy.

I don't want to have to have to wake up at 7 every morning to drive to work and sit in an office from 9–5. I'm too lazy, I don't want to have to do all the cleaning in my house by myself and wash all the dishes by myself.

Thus, I have to have money. I have to be successful in order to proudly embrace my laziness and not have to do these things.

It's okay to be lazy, but let this laziness serve as motivation for you so one day, you can embrace this laziness and not let it affect you.

Why should I do useless things?

If you can find a more efficient and easy way to do something, why should you "work hard" just for the sake of working hard and not being lazy?

If I can finish my homework in 30 minutes, I am no lazier than someone who spends several hours wasting their time away.

I don't like to wash dishes, but that is useless from my perspective. I can instead be spending my time writing something or doing something that will earn me money. So, I chose to buy a dishwashing machine because yes, I am lazy. I also don't want to waste my time on pointless tasks.

I want the best things in life.

Everything I do is in order to satisfy my selfish desires–money, good food, freedom, happiness. I am not going to pretentiously say I have no desires, because I do. Everyone does.

If you want to be successful, you have to be greedy and want. You have to want so bad that you are willing to put in your time and your life in order to get it.

I will take what is mine.

Why should I be selfless and give the candy I earned away to another kid because they are crying?

We are taught to be selfless and generous, and to always put other people's feelings in front of us, but why? You are just as important as anyone else.

It is not selfish to want what is rightfully yours. If you want a promotion and you deserve it, then take it without any hesitation. If you worked hard for it, you have no reason to feel bad about taking it.

In order to reach high levels, you need to start learning to put yourself first and realizing that you deserve it. You deserve the things you want, and you deserve to also work hard without caring what other people are saying or thinking.

If it is mine, no one can take it away from me.

There is a limit to talent and ability, but there is no limit to desire.

Your life journey is slowly passing by, and your voyage can end any day. Whether you end up with success or not, do not stop here.

A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are made for.
