What did you do today? Full of enthusiasm. Bursting with motivation. Like a rocket destined for the moon. Your journal beside you, ready to be filled. Rock and roll. Everything meticulously planned. Gym clothes neatly prepared. The apartment cleaned. The first vegan day or strict intermittent fasting. Sober January, no cigarettes. Regardless of what you have set for yourself. We all dive into the new year. 2024.
The danger of overload, overwhelm, and ultimately frustration is significant in the first few days to weeks. Therefore, it is wise not to load too much at once. Small steps, few minutes. Step by step.
Instead of running for 2 hours, maybe just greet the neighbors while dressed in sportswear. Instead of a strict diet, perhaps just abstain from one food category.
Start slowly. Very slowly. You don't have to achieve everything on day 1. After all, you still have 365 days.
It is a new attempt. Create routines. Maintain routines. Shed old ones. How long until we fail? What can we stick to and maybe even make a part of ourselves? Let's embark on it together. Start the new. The unknown. The adventure. Change something. What you desire.
My Day 1:
- Clean the apartment: One of my resolutions is to clean a room a day or at least an area of my apartment, instead of going all out once in a while. Fingers crossed, this routine will be challenging. Living room and kitchen. Done.
- Gym: Completed a 40-minute upper body workout. My plan is to hit the gym daily for at least 30 minutes. This routine seems achievable, as I'm already doing something 3–4 times a week.
- Write daily on Medium: This is the first article of 2024. Hopefully, many more to come. Thanks for reading.
- Play the Piano: Last year, I started playing the piano. My goal is 30 minutes to 1 hour of daily practice. Currently working on Hanon exercises.
- Sell One thing daily: Following my minimalistic path, I'm trying to sell an item a day or at least put it online or donate something. I'm using Vinted.
- Study: The one thing that is already part of my daily routine will remain unchanged. Studying medical topics. I love it.
- Less Online Time: Continuing to use my beloved Light Phone. It gives me freedom, keeping me away from social media distractions and allowing me to become the version of myself I want to be.
