I am not kidding, to run a successful crowdfouding campaign is almost like getting pregnant and giving birth to your beloved baby. Then you need to grow the baby, feed the baby, play with it, and help it to understand the world. At the end you need to let the baby go and plan the exit strategy.
I am pregnant with a long desired baby. It was a painful process; I almost lost hope of fluffing my live dream. Now, it is just steps away from becoming a reality.
However, before I will be spending the afternoon watching it growing, smiling for the first time, and seeing the first dollar crawling into my bank, I need to go through the labor of love, a lot of suffering, sleepless nights, worrying, scarifying my current pleasures for the future ones.
But who cares about the dark spots under my eyes, the swollen feet, eyes hurting from hours staring into a computer screen, the most important is, I am pregnant!!!
I am going to give the baby the best life I can, I will be the most awesome mom! I will do everything in my power, I will send the baby to the best kindergarten, middle school and later university and let the whole world to know the benefits of having my baby in their closets. hahahaha
I have never been pregnant before but I feel that my water broke. I am not ready, but I am super excited! The baby has a shape, I can touch and feel it, the baby kicks a lot. It already exists in my belly and it is ready to enter our earthy existence with a boom.
After all those month trying to get pregnant, now it is the time to bring it to the world and test if this will be a healthy and successful baby. When we were getting pregnant our objective was to bring change to the world, change people's habits in terms of using disposable bags, plastic, paper or other.
Will the baby fulfill the mission?!?
I would like to introduce you to AmphiBag, my baby. It is a Bag & a Scarf in one garment.
More about impregnation in the future articles, and yes, there is a daddy as well. The baby will have a full family, but with a twist. Today I would like to focus on crowdfounding.
Crowdfouding has been around for about 3 centuries. "Crowdfunding has a long history with several roots. Books have been crowdfunded for centuries: authors and publishers would advertise book projects in praenumeration or subscription schemes. The book would be written and published if enough subscribers signaled their readiness to buy the book once it was out. The subscription business model is not exactly crowdfunding, since the actual flow of money only begins with the arrival of the product" (source Wikipedia)
The first company to engage in this business model was the U.S. website ArtistShare (2001) As the model matured, more crowdfunding sites started to appear on the web such as Kiva (2005), IndieGoGo (2008), Kickstarter (2009), GoFundMe (2010), Microventures (2010), and YouCaring (2011). I want to share with my journey thorugh this expirience, so many people wants to be parents. It is not easy! But the rewards can be huge. The question is how to run a successful crowdfunding campaign and where to look for guidance.
As I came from a social media marketing background (has been providing the social media marketing services for about 10 years) I find difficult to find reliable guides that tell the whlole truth. People withhold how they were able to achieve their results during crowdfounding campaigns, there are always small secrets that people hide in their sleeves. They are not willing to share them. Let me see what happens during my campaign, if I stumble upon anything that I am not willing to share. The goal is to share all the resources, experiences and be 100% transparent.
There is a looooot of information online. You can find many crowdfouding case studies. There are many agencies that can help you. However, as I came from the industry I see many issues inside themd. The biggest one is that everyone is trying to sell their software, product or service, which I understand but nobody provides an ultimate solution.
So I decided to gather all the info that I think is suitable for the type of the campaign that I want to run and I will share with everyone all the steps that I took and show you all the results.
I want as many people be able to bring their products or services to the market as possible and I don't want them to struggle with the overwhelmed of information available all over the Internet, especially that the campaign is just a small part of the parenthood.
I will update you on the ongoing basis what's new and at the end I will put together a crowdfounding step-by-step guide and a case study so anyone can follow an implement their own campaign.
As you might know when you are pregnant you stay in bed a lot and you read and educate yourself. You read about permanency, about motherhood, and basically how to be a perfect mom or dad!
That's what I have been doing for about last 4 weeks or so. Gathering tons of information and evaluating them. Now I need to put them to a coherent plan and start implementing step by step.
First thing I learnt that there is a ton of case studies, which share a lot of useful information but at the same time they are promotional articles for the product or service, which makes sense from the marketing point of view. I discovered many cool products thought this research. However, I still I did not find a step by step deep dive plan, which would take you through every activity possible on your crowdfoudning adventure.
The goal of the crowdfouding campaing: - promote the innovative products, - test the market - sell 1000+ AMPHIBAGS.
