Talking about truth in 2021 can make many of us bristle mentally. For something we were always taught was pure and incontrovertible, the concept of truth these days has become something more flexible, malleable and even interchangeable. Truth is something much more personal. It is shaped by our beliefs, experiences and other tangibles that shape our reality. And when we are willing to openly discuss our 'truth' and we are also willing to listen to the truth of others, we can become a Truth Warrior.
Coming to the realization of what our truth is a process, a journey. There's no initial arrival point to say, "This is truth. Take it and run with it." We need to discover it for ourselves and witness how truth is something that may change or evolve before our very eyes. It's like a winding path — the truth will have its own twists and turns before it is ever discovered.
Finding a balance is crucial for discovering our truth. There's much to gain in our lives from being assertive and confident in everything we do, for example. It generally makes things easier for us to be this way and that energy we give off can be transferable for others, especially in a professional environment. But turning down our assertiveness and confidence and turning up our ability to listen and absorb from others creates a better balance, which accelerates us on our journey to find our truth. A good Truth Warrior is able to pause and reflect on where they sit, and look for any balance they might need.
Often we tend to look at things in our life, both professional and personal, as either wins or losses. And while we often reflect on what we learn from our wins, there's much to learn from the losses. A good Truth Warrior will change their mindset from "winning and losing" to "winning and learning". It's important to look at what we can learn from our failures as much as when we win. When we are able to make this mindset switch, discovering our truth becomes clearer.
Another crucial way we can discover our truth and become a Truth Warrior is to not shy away or even worse, avoid people who think differently from us. If we go back to the analogy of finding our truth being similar to a winding road, then by avoiding people with a different mindset is like making our truth path narrower. If the path is winding and evolving, the last thing you want to happen to help you stay on that path is for it to drastically narrow. Being open to different perspectives, the way people do things and their opinions is crucial for us to keep moving on our path to the truth and ultimately being Great Truth Warriors.
