The Ducks come into the game after a loss against the Blues on the road and they have one of the best records in the league as the season starts. The team has 16 points and an 8–3–0 record to start the season and they are currently first in the Pacific division this season. The team comes in against the Stars and Dallas has 11 points to open things and the Ducks will next matchup with the Avalanche and that game will be in Colorado.
The Ducks have been one of the most consistent teams to start the season and they rank in the top half of the league so far in goals allowed per game, goals scored and in special teams. Devante Smith-Pelly scored for the team in their win over the Blackhawks the other night and that was a great matchup between two teams that could be there at the end of the season in the west.

The Ducks handled the Stars in Game 1, winning 4–3, but also lost captain Ryan Getzlaf when he took a puck to the face in the final minute. Despite the ugly injury, Getzlaf said the day after the game that he plans to play in Friday's Game 2.
"Luckily, he's married, has a couple of kids," Anaheim defenseman Ben Lovejoy said. "He's not trying to impress anybody with his face."
Fans who want to watch the Anaheim Ducks vs. Dallas Stars can tune at 10 pm ET in to NBC Sports, which is also offering streaming video of the game online.
The return of Getzlaf could be a boost to the Ducks, who are looking to head to Dallas with a 2–0 stranglehold on the series.
"That's why he is who he is," said coach Bruce Boudreau. "That's why he's won two gold medals and a Stanley Cup and he's not 30. He learned from the Scotty Niedermayers and the Chris Prongers that were here before him, too. He's a battler and a gamer. It won't look too pretty, but he's going to be playing."
But the Stars are not looking to roll over, and on Thursday coach Lindy Ruff led the team in the longest film session of the season to find out what went wrong.
"It's my job to get them in the right place, and they weren't in quite the right place yesterday," Ruff said.
Fans who watch the Ducks vs. Stars game live online will likely see the return of rookie goaltender Frederik Andersen, who stopped 32 shots in his NHL playoff debut for the Ducks. Boudreau indicated that Andersen will likely get the nod over veteran Jonas Hiller.
