I am a bit of an enigma.

As a woman nudging fifty, most of my mentors are young enough to be my kids. But they are the productivity leaders, business trendsetters, and the brains behind revolutionary start-ups.

They have the knowledge I need to turn my side hustles into a full-time income.

I'm not even the target audience for names like Dan Koe, Dickie Busch, Alex Hormozi, or anyone featured on Ali Abdaal's insightful podcast (Deep Dive with Ali), but I am proof that learning transcends age.

Their success stories have brewed a strong cup of optimism in me.

While I can't work the gruelling hours they do (that ship has sailed) to earn $1M/month, I am convinced that with my unique skill set, experience, and wisdom, I can confidently aim for $1M over the next couple of years.

It might be odd for someone from my generation to look up to young minds for financial guidance, but it beautifully epitomizes how the world is evolving.

Age is no longer an obstacle to achieving dreams.

Today, with unlimited access to knowledge and information, we can learn from the young achievers who are breaking barriers and setting milestones.

The newer generations, with their fresh ideas and out-of-the-box thinking, have somewhat challenged the traditional standards. In contrast, Generation X was prescribed three life goals: go to school, get a job, retire.

There were a few Gen Xers who dared to step beyond these boundaries and possessed the courage to be different: Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Sara Blakely, Reed Hastings, Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Peter Thiel, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin have one common trait: they refused to be confined to societal norms. They defied rules, dropped out of school, and gave up lucrative jobs to follow their dreams, often without any prior knowledge or experience in monetizing their ideas.

These trailblazers flipped the bird at retiring comfortably (enough) and will go into old age as millionaires.

Making money doing what you love is now easier.

With the surge in technology, the internet has emerged as a powerhouse of possibilities, providing a level playing field to people of all ages and abilities. The potential to earn income online has empowered a growing list of successful people who make serious bank with online businesses.

  • The success of writers like Mark Manson, Tim Ferriss, James Clear, Jeff Goins, Darren Rowse, Joanna Penn, and Nick Stephenson is a testament to this.
  • Successful YouTubers like Graham Stephan, Pat Flynn, Ali Abdaal, Ryan Scribner, Alex Hormozi, and Erika Kullberg have taught millions how to generate income.

These are only a few examples among countless others in various fields that demonstrate the power of the digital world.

The most common thread amongst these successful individuals is their ability to leverage their trials and errors to teach others from their experiences. They've become guides and, thanks to technology, are available to help anyone take those initial wobbly steps toward success.

So, if it seems an oddity for someone my age to learn from the younger generations, it is a wise step towards personal growth and financial success.

As they say, age is just a number.

With a never-ending zeal to learn, anyone can achieve greatness, regardless of their stage in life.
